I'm creating complicated physical parts that fit together. I would like to:. Use SolidWorks to create the physical model. Export it to 3ds Max or Maya (whichever will make the conversion less painful) and apply UV mapping and textures. Export it to Unity. Steps #2 and #3 are pretty straightforward. It is the conversion from SolidWorks to a 3D modelling software that concerns me.
Whether I’m opening an existing 3D model or drawing and extruding a sketch, SOLIDWORKS allows me to work faster and smarter. With fully dimensioned, intelligent SOLIDWORKS models, I can open a design for something that already exists, make some changes—such as taking existing structural steel beams out and putting new beams in—and complete the project more quickly and easily. SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD solutions provide easy-to-learn, yet extremely powerful functionality that shortens product development time, reduces costs, and improves quality.
I need to do these parts in SolidWorks, but I can pick any 3D modelling software. Does anybody have any experience exporting SolidWorks parts to either of the two software? Any tips to start?
